The Best Place for Vets and Military-Connected Students

The support of military-connected students is central to the University’s mission. This includes commitments to affordability, academic success, and a comfortable fit within the student body.

Making Syracuse Affordable

Syracuse University participates in all veterans’ education programs and is a Yellow Ribbon participant. Yellow Ribbon enables Post 9/11 GI Bill students to receive additional funding so that required tuition and fees are covered.

Most 100% Yellow Ribbon-eligible veterans are able to complete their education at Syracuse without any out-of-pocket costs for tuition or fees. If you do not have enough remaining eligibility to complete your degree or need additional grant options for your dependents, Syracuse has financial aid available to help you. For more information, contact Syracuse’s Veteran Resource Center.

We Want You at Syracuse

One of the top reasons military-connected students choose Syracuse is academic breadth. You’ll select from among 200 majors and 100 minors  within 13 schools and colleges. No matter what school you choose, you can be sure you’ll find other students with ties to the Armed Forces.

Veteran and military-specific admissions representatives travel to events, bases, and community colleges throughout the country to meet with prospective students.

Getting Involved

The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) at Syracuse University provides a great way to get involved on campus and gives you a sense of camaraderie as you transition to academic life. Our organization provides a sanctuary where you can immediately connect with people who have already had experience with the challenges you can encounter while transitioning to higher education and the SVO members are happy to share strategies for success and becoming part of the wider Syracuse University community. Regular events and outings make you feel at home as you establish lifelong friendships. So come out to an event or a meeting and check out the SVO.
