Students will explore personal filmmaking as a filmmaking genre and practice, including experimental, fictionalized, documentary forms, animation, and hybrid forms. The course will investigate strategies of self-representation such as reenactment, memoir, or diaristic film. And the course will analyze a variety of documentary forms and modes from the 1920s, to the present.
Students will read texts, watch films, and also produce their own personal film using whatever technology they have (such as a smart phone).
Program & Technology Requirements
- Reliable internet access
- Minimally, a laptop with webcam and audio. (Best would be a monitor connected to laptop or desktop)
