The Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) prepares graduates for career advancement. Classes are designed to develop and improve workplace skills. The BPS is available in many disciplines, but usually offers specializations that apply to in-demand professional positions.
Syracuse University offers two part-time degree and certificate programs in both fully online or blended formats. The BPS in Creative Leadership or Knowledge Management was designed to provide you with the specific skills and credentials employers seek when they hire and promote employees. Graduates are equipped with the competencies needed to keep pace with today’s global networks and technologies.

If you are interested in earning a BPS degree or certificate* from Syracuse University, you will need to complete an Admissions Application. Admission is based on a combination of factors, including having graduated from high school or the equivalent, standardized test scores, transcripts from all previous undergraduate work, a personal statement, and, if requested, letters of recommendation. An admission interview with a UC advisor is required and is available in-person, by phone, or online.
Admission to the certificate programs requires an associate degree or equivalent. Admission applications are reviewed on a continuing basis, so you can submit an application at any time.
Not Ready to Apply Yet? Start with One Class
If you aren’t ready to apply for admission to the BPS, you can get started by taking just one or two classes. You do not have to apply for admission or submit a transcript in order to enroll a class. Classes are offered in a variety of delivery methods, including online, on-campus, and in different lengths including 8- and 12-week sessions, for example.
BPS in Creative Leadership
The focus of this program is on managing people – training, development, administration, and conflict resolution – for jobs in training and development, marketing, and social service.
BPS in Knowledge Management
This program focuses on data technology, for jobs in information security, computer systems analysis, and database administration.
Each undergraduate degree is 120 credits, consisting of a liberal studies core, professional competencies, major requirements, and electives. Earn a 5-class, 15-credit certificate as a standalone credential or on your way to a full degree.
